The aerodynamic overhaul adds widened side skirts, a new front splitter, double-stacked dive planes, wheel arch extensions, air outlets above the front wheels, aero discs on the rear wheels, and a large adjustable rear wing. Under the skin, new guide vanes channel air to an enlarged rear diffuser with extended fins. The result is three times more downforce than the standard car with 310kg at 124mph, rising to 740kg at 196mph.

Mechanical grip is improved too, with revised set-ups for the active suspension, all-wheel steering, and new 21” forged aluminium wheels shod in Pirelli P Zero Trofeo RS tyres. Braking performance has been further enhanced with larger discs measuring 440mm and 410mm at the front and rear respectively, helping to rein in the increased output of the dual-motor drivetrain.
Hardly short of power and torque in its standard guise, the Manthey Kit liberates an additional 27bhp and 22lb-ft (30Nm) for total outputs of 805bhp and 937lb-ft (1,270Nm). This comes courtesy of revisions to the 97kWh capacity battery, control unit, and pulse inverters raising the maximum discharge current to 1,300 amps.

Activated by the driver, the Formula E-inspired Attack Mode overboosts the powertrain for 10 seconds at a time up to a maximum of 979bhp. No acceleration figures have been revealed at present, but a two-second 0-62mph time is certainly possible.
It’s no surprise the Manthey Taycan eclipsed the Weissach Package-equipped Turbo GT’s Nordschleife time by 12.02 seconds, and went 3.84 seconds quicker than the 2,977bhp Yangwang U9 Xtreme. Driven once again by Nurburgring 24 Hours winner Lars Kern, the car completed the 12.94-mile lap in just 6:55.83 seconds.
Although it looked glued to the tarmac for the majority of the record run, the Taycan did break traction and require corrective steering on a handful of occasions, including a magnificent power slide as it exited the final corner. While that certainly cost the car a split second or two, crossing the timing line sideways and breaking a lap record is nothing short of emphatic.
Pricing is yet to be revealed, but the Manthey Kit will be available to order from June for Porsche Taycan Turbo GTs equipped with the Weissach Package. The powertrain and aerodynamic overhaul will also be retrofittable to existing models.
