F40 Alte Prestazioni Restomod Aims to Tame the Famously Wild Ferrari Supercar
News, Restomod, Ferrari
With a full suspension overhaul, modifications to the brakes, steering and modern rubber, this is a restomod claiming to make the F40 more accessible, whilst remaining sympathetic to its fiery character.

Timing is everything. Given the recent high-profile crashes involving the F40, it is little surprise Swiss firm Officine Fioravanti has pounced on the moment to release their F40 ‘Alte Prestazioni’ restomod.
Restomodding a Ferrari F40 could be seen as messing with a motoring deity and sacrilegious. Yet it appears the firm that shares its name with the man who penned the original car has struck a balance that would please the motoring gods, rather than anger them.
Meaning ‘high performance’, unlike the recent trend for reimaginings, Officine Fioravanti’s work is geared towards stealth – keeping things indistinguishable on the surface but modernising key components under the skin. Officine Fioravanti has previous, with a back catalogue that includes work on the Ferrari 512BB and Testarossa, plus a manual Alfa 8C conversion. Working out of their Turin base, the goal has been to create an F40 that is “safer, more accessible and, when necessary, even more high performing”.
The last thing an F40 needs is more performance, so Officine Fioravanti has wisely chosen to leave the 2.9-litre twin-turbocharged V8 with the 471bhp it left Maranello with. The extra performance comes from the car’s ability to deploy said power – and to rein it in. The suspension is heavily revised, with four-way adjustable Öhlins TTX36 dampers fitted all round. Originally designed for Formula 3, they feature an internal oil reservoir contributing to their performance whilst presenting a compact packaging solution. Officine Fioravanti has also designed new suspension arms, hubs, bearings and, by the looks of it, new anti-roll bars. All are designed from “aerospace-grade” materials said to aid durability.
Carbon-ceramic brakes have been fitted, clamped by Brembo six-piston front calipers and four-pot units at the rear. Another modification to the braking system is the adoption of ABS.
At first glance, you might’ve missed the new, staggered 18-inch front and 19-inch rear alloy wheels. Designed to mimic the 17-inch originals, they’re wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres. The fronts are linked to an updated steering box, including hydraulic assistance. Also available is a front-axle lifting system, plus new centre-locking wheel nuts.
No pricing has been released should you wish to commission Officine Fioravanti to build you an F40 Alte Prestazioni – whether that be cherry-picking individual upgrades or going the full prancing horse. We imagine it's a classic case of “if you have to ask…”.
